WALTHAM, Mass. – Simmons University Volleyball hit the road to nearby Brandeis University on tonight, where the Judges defeated the Sharks, 3-0, in the season-opener.

How It Happened

• The Judges and Sharks battled back and forth in the opening set, with neither side able to create much separation. Hannah Pridgeon tied the set at 24-24 with an ace before Madeline Flanagan knotted it again at 25-25. However, the home team closed out the set with back-to-back kills to claim a 27-25 victory.
• Locked at 13-13 in the second set, the Judges scored three straight points to take a 16-13 lead. Simmons responded by capitalizing on a pair of Brandeis errors to pull within one, but the Judges used a late run to secure a 25-17 win and a 2-0 match advantage.
• Brandeis jumped out to a 14-6 lead in the third set, but Simmons continued to chip away and cut the deficit to four at 18-14. The Judges answered down the stretch, taking the set 25-16 to complete the sweep.

Beyond The Box Score

• Hannah Pridgeon opened the season with 11 kills, marking the second straight year she has recorded double-digit kills in the Sharks' season opener.
• Simmons returns to the hardwood on Saturday, September 5, for a tri-match hosted by Emerson College. The Sharks will face the Lions and Nichols College.
