NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Simmons University Soccer traveled up North today to take on the Norwich University Cadets in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. After 90 minutes of action, the Sharks and Cadets ended in a 0-0 draw.

How It Happened

• Keeper Mikaela Marie Javar and the Simmons' defense did not let anything by in the first 45 minutes of regulation, facing 12 shots while Javar recorded six saves. In the final five minutes, Kaitlyn Marshall took the lone shot on goal for Simmons as the scoreboard remained 0-0 at the break. 
• In the 60th minute, it looked as though Norwich was about to draw first blood, but Javar came out of the net to make the initial save before Eleni Marques da Costa made a timely slide tackle to swat the Cadet's hopes. The Sharks' defense remained a sturdy brick wall in the second half, defending their goal until the final whistle, making another six saves on record and multiple key stops to preserve the tie game.

• Today's shutout of the Cadets marked the first time since 2022 that the Sharks held Norwich scoreless.
• The Sharks look ahead to Saturday, September 26 as the Sharks will host the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays at 1 p.m. on Daly Field.
