BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons University Volleyball celebrated Pride Night by welcoming the Monks of Saint Joseph's College (Maine) to the Holmes Center. After the Sharks won the first two sets, the visitors rallied to force a fifth set, but Simmons took care of business for the 3-2 victory.

How It Happened

• Tied at 13-all, Simmons orchestrated a 5-0 run to create separation from the Monks. SJC attempted to rally but could not overcome the deficit as the Sharks claimed the opening set, 25-22.
• A 14-2 run in the second set gave Simmons the spark it needed to pull away for a 25-15 win and a 2-0 match advantage.
• Both sides put together brief runs in the third set, and the score was tied three times late at 17-all, 19-all, and 20-all. However, SJC extended the match by taking the set, 25-20.
• The Monks came out strong in the fourth set and never looked back, securing a 25-19 victory.
• SJC held the upper hand early in the fifth, but the Sharks responded to pull ahead, 13-8. The Monks answered with a 4-1 run, but Simmons got the final word as Mia LeBrun recorded the match-winning kill for a 15-12 win.

Beyond The Box Score

• Kira Buonopane had a monstrous night with 13 kills, marking a career-high for the senior.
• Mia LeBrun also set a new career high with 12 kills.
• Gabrielle Pattie reached the 50-assist mark for the first time in her collegiate career.
• Hannah Pridgeon recorded a season-high 21 kills and notched her third double-double of the season.
• The Sharks head to Fitchburg this weekend for a tri-match with the Falcons and Bay Path on Saturday, September 26.
