Sharks Complete Perfect Day Against Falcons, Wildcats

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Simmons University Volleyball weathered the storm as they traveled for a tri-match hosted by Fitchburg State University today to play their hosts along with Bay Path. The Sharks came out with a pair of wins as they defeated their hosts, 3-1 followed by a clean 3-0 sweep of Bay Path.

Simmons vs. Fitchburg
  • Kira Buonopane and Hannah Pridgeon helped spark a dominant stretch for Simmons in the opening set, while several Falcon errors allowed the Sharks to build an 18-6 advantage. Simmons never looked back, cruising to a 25-11 win.
  • The teams traded runs throughout a tightly contested second set, but Fitchburg State used a late 10-2 surge to even the match at 1-1 with a 25-23 victory.
  • Simmons responded in the third, using an 8-2 run midway through the set to create separation and maintain control the rest of the way en route to a 25-15 win.
  • The Sharks closed the match in convincing fashion, ending the fourth set on a 6-0 run to secure the 25-10 victory.
Simmons vs. Bay Path
  • Trailing 12-5 early in the opening set, Simmons stormed back and cut the deficit to 15-12 before rattling off nine straight points to take control on the way to a 25-18 victory.
  • The second set was tightly contested early, but the Sharks gradually created separation and cruised to a 25-12 win.
  • Simmons jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third and never looked back, completing the sweep with a 25-15 decision.

  • Hannah Pridgeon has now booked four double-doubles this season with her 12 kills and 11 digs against Fitchburg.
  • With 10 kills against Fitchburg, Mia LeBrun recorded back-to-back games with double digit kills for the first time in her career.
  • Addison Evans' 19 kills against Bay Path marks the highest since her 24 against Mount Holyoke.
  • Gabrielle Pattie's 36 assists against Bay Path marks a career-high in three set matches. 
  • Carolina Rodriguez has now had 20 or more digs in four games this season with today being the first 20 dig performance in a three set match.
  • The Sharks return to play on their home court on Thursday, October 1 as they host the Colby-Sawyer Chargers at 7 p.m. in conference action.
