Blue Jays Turn Away Sharks In Pennsylvania

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Simmons University Field Hockey opened a two-game road swing through Pennsylvania tonight, taking on Elizabethtown College where the home team topped the Sharks, 4-0.

How It Happened

  • The Blue Jays were awarded an early penalty stroke following an initial shot and save by goalkeeper Jamila Mohamed. Elizabethtown converted the opportunity to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Piper Rickman recorded her third defensive save of the season, while Mohamed made three saves in the opening quarter to keep the deficit at one.
  • Elizabethtown added another goal in the second quarter to carry a 2-0 advantage into halftime.
  • Simmons' defense continued to be tested in the third quarter, limiting the damage before the Blue Jays scored a pair of late goals to extend their lead to 4-0 heading into the fourth.
  • The Sharks earned a penalty corner and recorded a shot on goal in the fourth quarter, but were unable to break through as Elizabethtown secured the 4-0 victory.
