Bright, Brisson Highlight GNAC Field Hockey Weekly Honors

GNAC RELEASE

BOSTON, Mass. –
Simmons University Field Hockey was well represented on the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Weekly awards as Haley Bright and Hailey Brisson were each honored by the league for their standout work this past week. Bright was named the Goalkeeper of the Week, while Brisson secured the Defender of the Week.

Bright was lights out in the Sharks shootout victory over New England College (NEC) last Wednesday. The junior registered a career-high 16 saves while allowing just one goal in 80 minutes of work.  Bright also controlled the tempo in shootouts to pace the Sharks to hand the Pilgrims their first GNAC loss of the season. Additionally, the junior is second in the conference in total goals against on the season with 12.

In the same game, Brisson scored the winning goal in shootouts. Brisson also back boned the defense for the Sharks where the only goal they allowed was on a penalty stroke against NEC. Additionally, against Elms, the defender scored her fourth goal of the season.

The Sharks return to Daly on Wednesday, October 22 to host non-conference opponent Endicott College.
