BOSTON, Mass. — In the fourth meet of the season, Simmons University Swimming and Diving fell to the University of New England, 169-99. In all, the Sharks had a successful meet, with multiple top place finishes in both individual and relay events.
By The Numbers
- The 200 yard medley relay team of Isabel Barry-Ruiz, Julia Long, Carli Quinlan and Bee Eckels swam to a second place finish in the first event of the night (2:01.82).
- Laura Luthi touched the wall in third after a long race in the 1000 yard freestyle. Luthi went a time of 12:27.63.
- Barry-Ruiz took the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:08.94; a substantial drop from last week.
- Eckels came in second in the 50 yard breaststroke going 35.63.
- Sophomore Chaelin Humphrey had a fantastic race in the 100 yard butterfly, touching the final wall first with a time of 1:06.66.
- Quinlan came in second for both the 50 yard freestyle (25.41) and in the following 100 yard freestyle (55.22).
- Luthi earned second in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:26.49, while her teammate Ainsley Horan finished close behind in third with a time of 2:38.84.
- Long claimed third in the 100 yard breaststroke, coming into the final wall at 1:18.67.
- Anna Kelly and Barry-Ruiz went two, three in the 500 yard freestyle. Kelly went a time of 5:59.34 while Barry-Ruiz went 6:09.94.
- Humphrey swam to another first place finish this time in the 50 yard butterfly (29.89).
- Quinlan took the 100 yard individual medley, swimming a time of 1:04.33.
- The Sharks ended the night with a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The team of Luthi, Barry-Ruiz, Humphrey and Eckels went a time of 1:52.10.
- For diving, Melanie Powers came in first with a score of 192.60. First Year Autumn Welch came in second with a score of 163.95.
Next Friday, the Sharks return to the water when they take on Regis, Gordon and Elms at the Regis College Athletics complex on Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.
