Simmons Wraps Up Day Two At MIT Invite

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — On Saturday, the Simmons Swim and Dive team returned to the pool for Day two of the MIT Winter Invite, facing one of the deepest and fastest lineups on the season. The Sharks continued to battle, putting up steady times across the board.

  • The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Carli Quinlan, Anna Kelly, Bee Eckels and Isabel Barry-Ruiz competed in the C final, touching in 1:45.92, just ahead of teammates, Laura Luthi, Ainsley Horan, Julia Long and Anna Pelliccio who finished in 1:58.88.
  • In the 200 yard butterfly, Chaelin Humphrey posted a 2:23.86, placing 28th in a crowded field.
  • Senior Quinlan led the Sharks in the 200 yard freestyle, finishing with a strong 1:57.11 in the B final.
  • In the 100 yard breaststroke, Long stopped the clock at 1:16.36, while junior Eckels went 1:16.80. Both represented Simmons in the C final.
  • Humphrey returned for the 400 IM, swimming a 5:16.92 in the evening session.
  • On the diving boards, senior Melanie Powers scored 251.55 on 3-meter, placing 24th among a field stacked with national qualifiers.
