WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University Softball standout pitcher Piper Kinney was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher of the Week for her work in the circle this past week at the PFX Spring Games.

The senior recorded 25 strikeouts and picked up two wins on the week. Kinney began the week by tossing a complete-game, one-hitter with 12 strikeouts in a 7-0 victory over St. Vincent on Monday. Then, Kinney followed that performance with another dominant outing on Wednesday against Bluffton, throwing another complete-game one-hitter shutout while recording her 500th career strikeout as a Shark.

Kinney was just as impressive at the plate, going 10-for-22 with four RBIs and a .455 batting average to lead the team down in Florida.

Simmons will play the Engineers of MIT at Daly Field on Saturday, March 14.
