WESTON, Mass. - Senior forward Julie Saltamartini (East Hampstead, N.H.) tallied her fourth career hat trick and became the Simmons College field hockey team's all-time career goal scorer in a 5-0 victory over host Regis (Mass.) today in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match at Regis Stadium in Weston, Mass. The Sharks win their fifth straight to improve to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in league play, while the Pride fall to 2-4 and 0-3.

Simmons dominated play, outshooting its host by a count of 17-4, while holding a commanding 18-4 margin on penalty corners.

Saltamartini scored early in the first half, before adding two more markers in the second stanza for the Sharks.

The senior forward wasted little time getting her name on the score sheet, tallying her first goal of the contest at the 5:50 mark for Simmons. Saltamartini walked in from the top of the circle and fired a low shot past the Regis keeper and into the bottom left corner of the cage. Nearly 11 minutes into the second half, Saltamartini added her second and third goals of the afternoon just under four minutes apart to put the game all but out of reach. Sophomore midfielder Hannah Scott (Claremont, N.H.) found her for a breakaway just under 11 minutes into the second period. Her third goal and school-record breaking 58th of her career came with 20:19 left in the match after she scored on her own rebound. Her goal total surpasses the former mark of 57 held by Tanya Rego (2002-05).

Senior forward Sammy Rondeau (Franklin, Mass.) scored the second goal of the day for the Sharks with a low shot from the top of the circle that found the back of the cage with 3:32 to go in the opening half. The goal was her team-leading eighth of the season. Junior midfielder Meghan Fontaine (Westminster, Mass.) capped the scoring for Simmons, taking a feed from junior forward Missie Maiewski (Northampton, Mass.) and scoring off a penalty corner, with less than three minutes to play, to round out the 5-0 win with her third marker of the year.

First year goalkeeper Lucy McNamara (Brewster, Mass.) earned her first collegiate shutout for Simmons, making two saves, while Maresa Malcolm (Barrington, N.J.) was made eight stops for the Pride.

The Sharks return to action on Tuesday, September 26 when it heads to Northampton, Mass. to take on Smith College at 6:00 p.m., while Regis plays Becker College on the same day in Leicester, Mass. at 4:00 p.m.
