Sydney Gonyea became the first Simmons field hockey student-athlete to receive National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-American recognition announced by the coaches' organization on Tuesday morning.

After being named the GNAC Offensive Player of the Year for the second time and earning NFHCA All-Region First Team honors, Gonyea was one of 16 players across the country selected to the NFHCA All-American Third Team. The New Hampshire native put together yet another impressive campaign, reaching the 200 point mark for her Simmons career. Gonyea also led the GNAC in goals (26), points (62) and shots (105). Her historical season for the Sharks has them competing for a GNAC championship after an 18-3 regular season.Â
