GNAC RELEASE
WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University Volleyball saw senior outside hitter Hannah Pridgeon earn Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week honors, while first-year setter Gabrielle Pattie was named GNAC Setter of the Week, as announced by the conference office this afternoon.
The Sharks continued their strong conference play with a pair of victories, defeating Colby-Sawyer College in five sets at the Holmes Center before traveling to New England College and earning a 3-0 sweep of the Pilgrims.
Pridgeon paced the Sharks' offense throughout the week, totaling 33 kills and 21 digs while averaging 4.13 kills per set. The senior recorded a double-double with 19 kills and 15 digs in Simmons' five-set victory over Colby-Sawyer before following it up with 14 kills on a .545 hitting percentage in the sweep of New England College.
Pattie once again orchestrated the Simmons attack, dishing out 80 assists across the two matches while averaging 10.0 assists per set. The first-year setter handed out 44 assists in the five-set win over Colby-Sawyer and added 36 assists in just three sets against New England College. She also contributed 12 digs during the 2-0 week.
The weekly honors are the third straight GNAC Player of the Week award for Pridgeon and the fourth consecutive Setter of the Week selection for Pattie this season.
Simmons returns to Holmes for their "Dig Pink" Night as they host the Regis College Pride tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
