GNAC RELEASE
WINTHROP, Mass. – After leading Simmons University Volleyball to a perfect 3-0 week, senior outside hitter Hannah Pridgeon was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, while first-year setter Gabrielle Pattie earned GNAC Setter of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office this afternoon.
The Sharks opened the week with a five-set conference victory over Saint Joseph's College of Maine before traveling to Fitchburg State for a tri-match, where they picked up a 3-1 win over the host Falcons and a 3-0 sweep of Bay Path.
Pridgeon was a force on the outside all week, totaling 42 kills while averaging 3.50 kills per set across 12 sets. The senior added 33 digs, and three blocks while contributing six aces. In the conference win over Saint Joseph's, she put down 21 kills and averaged 4.20 kills per set.
Pattie continued to direct the Simmons offense, finishing the week with 112 assists, good for 9.33 assists per set, while adding 18 digs and three service aces. In her lone conference match of the week, the first-year dished out 51 assists and averaged 10.20 assists per set to help the Sharks secure the five-set victory over the Monks.
The weekly honors are the second straight GNAC awards of the season for Pridgeon and third straight for Pattie.
Simmons returns to action this week on Thursday evening as they host the Colby-Sawyer College Chargers.
