NAC RELEASE

WATERVILLE, Maine – After helping Simmons University Women's Tennis post a 2-1 record on the week, senior Emilie Lapointe and first-year Ivy Cote earned North Atlantic Conference (NAC) weekly honors, as announced by the league office this afternoon. Lapointe was named NAC Player of the Week, while Cote collected NAC Rookie of the Week recognition.

Lapointe turned in a perfect 3-0 week in singles play, competing at No. 2 singles for the Sharks. She opened the week with a hard-fought three-set victory over Roger Williams, 6-2, 4-6, 10-7. The next day, Lapointe defeated the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), 6-0, 6-0, and followed with a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Suffolk University this past Saturday.

Cote posted a 2-1 mark at No. 4 singles during the week. She recorded a pair of victories, defeating USJ, 6-2, 6-0, for her first collegiate win before earning her second straight victory with a 6-1, 6-0 decision against Suffolk.

Simmons returns to action on Saturday, September 12 when it hosts NAC opponent Husson University at 12 p.m. at Daly Field.
